Who we work with

Our clients own privately held companies, most between $500K and $200M in revenue, in the trades, professional services and a few other industries where the owner is still close to the work. The sectors below are where our experience runs deepest, although what our clients really share is an owner who wants better answers.

Landscaping, tree care and outdoor services

Seasonal businesses live or die on cash flow, crew labor cost, equipment decisions and prices that can carry a slow quarter. We have built commission and gross-profit plans for crew leaders, modeled the return on adding a second crew, measured foreman productivity from job history and worked through joint ventures and acquisitions between tree services. If you are weighing whether to buy a competitor or a new bucket truck, we have run that math before.

Plumbing, electrical and other trades

Many of our trade clients are growing from a few trucks into a company with dispatch, managers and more than one service line. That shift raises questions about owner pay, the first management hires and job costing. It also forces a hard look at pricing, which has to cover what a truck really costs to keep on the road while matching what customers in your market will pay.

Law practices and professional services

For attorneys, advisors and consultants, the owner's time is the inventory. We help these firms grow the right practice areas, price and package their services, take administrative work off the owner's plate and plan for succession before it becomes urgent. One estate planning practice we advised grew its referrals and fees substantially over two years.

Real estate teams and investors

For real estate teams, agents and investors, we work on team economics and commission splits, identify which lead sources and clients are worth the time, study how buyers and sellers actually choose an agent and build the financial models behind individual deals.

Creator management, media and photography

Agencies that manage content creators, along with the creators and studios themselves, deal with uneven revenue, platform rules that change every month and books that rarely match the business. Our work here includes payroll and commission systems for account managers, revenue reporting for staff who have never seen the numbers, playbooks for slow periods, and the economics of turning followers into paying customers and keeping them.

Managed IT, wellness and specialty service businesses

Recurring-revenue service companies, such as managed IT providers, float spas, studios and training businesses, carry employees, leases and compliance risk. We help them with employee handbooks that meet Massachusetts requirements, employment practices coverage and HR documentation, retainer pricing, and the operating routines that let an owner take a week off.

Nonprofits and mission-driven organizations

Many boards and founders need financial leadership but cannot justify a full-time finance director. We provide financial analysis, accounting policies, three-year budgets and a strategy for moving from one funding source to several. Nunzio is treasurer of the Forest Park Zoo board and sits on the Connecticut River Valley Consortium finance subcommittee, so we know this work from the volunteer side as well.

The owner we work best with

You sign the checks, or you lead the team that does. Your bookkeeper's reports no longer tell you what you need to know. You may have a specific decision ahead of you, or just a feeling that the business is running you instead of the other way around. Either way, you want someone who will tell you the truth about the numbers in plain language and then help you act on it. Start a conversation
